Corey Taylor, lead singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour, had recently announced a show at The Roxy Theater in West Hollywood, California. He had been jamming with his friends and figured, why not play a live show. Apparently tickets for this event went quick. Day of show there were fans lining up in front of the venue early. By the time the doors were about to open, there was a line down the block of devoted Corey Taylor fans. Kerrang and Loudwire where there to cover this show, but so was Go Venue!
This evening began with the Cherry Bombs, a female group of professional dancers, aerialists, fire artists, hoopers, pole dancers, and singers.
They performed a great set that kept the crowd entertained and wanting more. Check them out if you have the chance! Next came, the guest of honor, Corey Taylor accompanied by Jason Christopher (Ministry/Prong) on bass, Brandon Pertzborn (Horror/Doyle) on drums, and Zach Throne (actor/musician) on bass.
Corey announced that this evening all songs would be ones he didn’t write so they proceeded with a set list of some of their favorite songs.
First song they played tonight was “Love Song” from the Damned. What a great way to get things started. The rest of the evening was comprised of a wide range of musical tributes ranging from INXS all the way to Van Halen and Kiss. To make the night even more of a special occasion, Corey had a number of special guest that joined the band on stage for a song or two including Eaddy of the band Ho99o9 (horror), Dean Delray (rock musician, now stand-up comedian), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Scott Ian (Anthrax), and John 5 (Rob Zombie) amongst others.
A truly special night at the Roxy. Check out the photos and set list below.
