I have been looking forward to May 31st 2019 for a while now. Combichrist was in town making a stop on their One Fire tour at The Machine Shop in Flint, Michigan. Along for the tour was Silver Snakes and local Michigan band Chase The Sun.
Chase The Sun looked fresh off the farm as the lead singer donned overalls and a straw hat. These guys brought some heavy metal attitude to the stage to get the crowd riled up and rocking.
Silver Snakes brought a different vibe as they jammed while a video screen behind them displayed visuals of shapes, lights and patterns. Churning out an industrial sound with synths, sharp drumming and riffing guitars. Lead singer Alex Estrada guided his band through a whirlwind of sonic distortions and his lighted microphone was a nice added touch. Silver Snakes is celebrating the recent release of their latest album ‘Death and the Moon’, which came out May 3rd.
Aggrotech and industrial metal band Combichrist brought the party the fans were craving to be satiated with, with that pulse pounding, heavy beating body rocking vibe that Combichrist does so well. The crowd wasted little time getting into the moshing action as lead singer Andy LaPlegua kicked off the set with a song, “Hate Like Me” from their ‘One Fire’ album which is set to be released on June 7th. “Hate Like Me” is an intense song that quickly sets things in motion for the crowd.
With Eric 13 on guitar and new members Dane White on drums and Will Spodnick on percussion, Andy has Combichrist humming along to dish out those rave rocking beats that had everybody dancing along.
Andy wasn’t feeling the greatest as he was a bit under the weather but he persevered as he belted out the lyrics to songs that included, “Never Surrender”, “Shut Up & Swallow”, “Throat Full Of Glass”, “Electrohead” and “Maggots At The Party”. It’s impossible not to dance along to Combichrist’s music and with a great collection of songs on their set list, the fans were absolutely quenched.
Combichrist is one of the best bands that’ll get the crowd grooving and moving with their beats and I and all the rest of the fans will be ready the next time they come back around. Safe travels to Combichrist as this North American leg of the One Fire tour wraps up soon and then on to Europe, South America and Russia for much of the rest of the year.
