Faster Pussycat made it’s Bourbon Theatre debut on June 8th, 2025. Although Faster Pussycat has played in Nebraska many times, this was the first time they’ve played the Bourbon. Supporting this tour is the SupersuckersThe Rumours and The Lonely Ones. Local band Twisted Chrome opened up the night.

Twisted Chrome, a local rock band with a classic rock sound, fit this lineup nicely. The Lonely Ones out of Columbus, OH claims their style is a “Vampire Disco Rock”.  Their guitarist Jymmy Tolland was entertaining to watch, slinking around the stage with moves like Jimmy Paige. The Rumours, a punk rock band out of Waterloo, IA, had the most dynamic set of the night by far. I’ve seen them many times, and these gals have energy and spunk to the nth degree. If you ever get a chance to catch them, do it. They leave it all on the stage every time, this night was no different.

Supersuckers were direct support for the night. The Supersuckers have been around since 1988, but oddly enough I hadn’t heard them till recently.  On prior tours, Faster Pussycat would include their song “Pretty Fucked Up”, so I did a little research to see what they were about. Members Eddie “Spaghetti” Daly (or he said he’d go by Eddie Machete too) (vocals/bass), captain of the ship Chris “Chango” von Streicher (drums) and “Metal” Marty Chandler (guitar/backing vocals) were true professionals on stage. They had a gritty rock/punk rock sound, but the set was polished. It’s evident they’ve been doing this for a while. Daly acknowledged the “respectable amount” of people that got off the couch on a Sunday to see them, and they don’t see that often.

Faster Pussycat with current lineup Danny Nordahl (bass), Chad Stewart (drums), Sam Bam Kolton (guitar), Kieran Robertson (guitar) and founding member Taime Downe (lead vocals) finally took the stage and greeted the crowd with a “Happy Sunday mother fuckeeeeers!”. Faster Pussycat started the set with their latest release “Motorbike” then settled in with more familiar, classic songs like “Don’t Change That Song”, “Cathouse” and “Slip Of The Tongue”. It’s great to hear new music, but for me personally, I embrace a night of nostalgia. Taime Downe’s vocals are always spot on and send me straight back to the late 80s. I love the trip back in time, but also enjoy the addition of fresh talent in Kolton and Robertson, who bookended the stage. Faster Pussycat had a full 14-song set, covering all their biggest hits and wrapping up the night with “Babylon”, leaving the crowd pumped on a high note.
