Wednesday 13 brought old school Murderdolls music to the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska, December 6, 2023. Supporting this leg of the tour were Black Satellite, Infected Rain and Gemini Syndrome.

First up for the night was a New York City based, female fronted, Black SatelliteBlack Satellite did a great job warming up a partially filled Bourbon Theatre. Larissa Vale (lead vocals) has a dark, raspy voice which lent to a great cover of Rammstein’s “Sonne”.

Next was Infected Rain from Moldova. Infected Rain was last at the Bourbon Theater in 2021 opening for The Butcher Babies. I fell for the band at that show and have been following them ever since. Earlier in the tour, Vadim “Vidick” Ojog and Eugene Voluta had trouble with their Visas and missed the first few shows of the tour. Alice Lane and Elena “Lena Scissorhands” Catarago kept a positive attitude, attending those shows solo and meeting up with fans at the merch table. Here in Nebraska, Infected Rain has gained quite a following. The first few rows of the crowd were definitely happy to see them again and were fully engaged, including the first and only mosh pit of the night.

The third opener was Gemini Syndrome, hailing from Los Angeles. Gemini Syndrome had the most mainstream set of the night, playing several rock hits; “Stardust”, “Die With Me”, and “Remember We Die”. The biggest surprise for me was seeing Miguel “Meegs” Rascón (guitar) enter the stage. I saw him this summer with Coal Chamber and wasn’t expecting to see him on tour with Gemini Syndrome.

Finally, the headliners took the stage.  It’d been thirteen years since the band Murderdolls split. Murderdolls had been through two different versions in the last 22 years; 2002-2004 and 2010-2011. Since then, founding members Ben Graves and Joey Jordison had passed 2018 and 2021 respectively. Joseph Poole aka Wednesday 13 (lead vocals) put together a supporting lineup to perform old Murderdolls tunes. The current lineup includes Roman Surman (2010 Murderdolls Guitar), Jack Tankersley (2010 Murderdolls Guitar), Troy Doebbler (Bass) and Mike Dupke (Drums).

Wednesday 13 and crew played a 20 song setlist from two albums; Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls and Women and Children Last, which Wednesday 13 explained was a parody of the Van Halen album, Women and Children First.

We heard a lot of stories about Murderdolls and their history. We heard how Joey Jordison asked Wednesday 13 to be a part of Murderdolls in 2002, how Wednesday 13 had a guest spot on the TV show Dawsons Creek, we heard about the time they shared a stage with Medgadeth and their fans hated them and how Mick Mars of Mötley Crüe did a guitar solo for the song “Blood Stained Valentine” and actually bled on their album.

The show was both a celebration of Murderdolls music and a loving tribute to Ben Graves and Joey JordisonWednesday 13 is wrapping up this tour in Colorado Springs on Saturday but seemed excited to continue another leg in 2024.
