This past Friday, August 9, 2024, I found myself on a last minute assignment to cover Outlandia Music Festival at the Falconwood Park in Bellevue, Nebraska for Go Venue Magazine. There I discovered the Australian band Vacations, and was pleasantly surprised! Singer Campbell Burns lead the group, playing some tunes obviously inspired by groups coming out of the 80s. The Faint was up next and they literally moved the crowd. Fans and non fans alike were dancing the entire set! Hard driving beats over gothic sounding synths and an in your face singer is how I would describe these guys. Very fun!

Men I Trust were next, and I was there for it! Electro pop to the core, this band is fun. From start to finish, each song sounded faithfully like the releases. So good live, I absolutely recommend seeing them if you get the chance. Last up was the Flaming LipsWayne Coyne and crew brought it to Outlandia. The lights, bubbles, megaphones, the confetti, and the 16 feet inflatable pink inflatable robots were all there delighting the crowd. They sounded great as ever and were the perfect closing act for Friday night. They as always set the bar very high as far as live shows go. I had an absolute blast at this year’s Outlandia. Great food, a great site and venue, and great music. I should also mention it was so very well organized, unlike other festivals we’ve heard horror stories about. I’ll absolutely be back to Outlandia next year!
