There may have been social media doubt that it would ever get off the ground, but the 2018 incarnation of Riot Fest kicked off Friday without a hitch under sunny skies and packed crowds at Douglas Park in Chicago, Illinois on Friday, September 14, 2018.
Weezer headlined day one of the festival with a set that included classic fan favorites like “Undone” and “El Scorcho,” as well as their internet-inspired cover of Toto’s “Africa,” and a cover of blink-182’s “All The Small Things” in honor of the band’s absence; plus Speedy Ortiz, Direct Hit, Liz Phair, K. Flay, Matt & Kim, Flogging Molly, Taking Back Sunday, Bleachers, Young the Giant, Dropkick Murphys and many more.
