Five Finger Death Punch Releases New Album Friday

L to R: Standard and Deluxe Album Artworks of 'And Justice For None'

Metal is alive and well with over 2 billion global live streams coming from “Got Your Six” of the patriotic band Five Finger Death Punch in 2015. Releasing a single at the end of April this year and another one earlier this month, off their 7th studio album “And Justice For None” due out Friday, May 18th, the group wades in waters their “knucklehead” fans may not be used to, but it doesn’t detour much from what you would expect. Yet, it also shows a sense of humor from their serious metal roots and doesn’t stray from the tugging ballads of their previous “Wrong Side of Heaven,” but that isn’t unusual for rock heavy hitters to release every once in a while. Since their debut into the music world in 2007, they have just accumulated massive amounts of fans across the world with platinum record sales. And this next album coincides with a monster tour to take place this summer.

Two years ago the band was recognized for their military support when they received the “Soldier Appreciation Award” from The Association of the United States Army. A go to anthem for soldiers and veterans alike, this band doesn’t shy away from it’s obvious support for those who are willing to defend our country and our freedoms, and brings attention to the forsaken as these soldiers aren’t exactly treated so well when they get home.

More of a ballad, the lyrics of “When The Seasons Change” evoke that desire to have died for something important and fighting through the pain. It sticks to the band’s core and caused me to slow down and appreciate the truth in their talents. There are some elements here that stick with the listener like the importance of loyalty and those who live by it, depend on it. It’s in the air that this group has established and deserve their loyal following and picks up new fans at every venue they visit, while increasing that anxious excitability with an impending new album to savor. They will certainly assist with the destruction of burning up the speakers in my car stereo this summer.

Who doesn’t hope that their life will mean something and that in the end, you would die for a good cause? Five Finger Dead Punch continues on their path of supporting our troops and identifying feelings that are sometimes difficult for a soldier to convey. In the history of metal music, reaching into the darkness and pulling those damning emotions into the light is nothing new, but revealing it in such a screaming heartfelt way, as this band does, it appears they go unchallenged at the moment. Close your eyes and you can almost imagine the emotions of our military they portray in the lyrics that many in our country choose to keep their eyes closed to altogether. These guys don’t let you forget the sacrifices others have made on our behalf. In your face America, they demand you salute those who stand to fight for you, that stand up instead of you, and this makes them the most popular and patriotic metal band in existence right now.

This single “Sham Pain”, which has already reached #2 on iTunes Metal Songs chart, took me by surprise, poking fun at their fame, referring to TMZ and being stuck on a tour bus. They’ve made it and this song demonstrates a lyrical humor that they intend to keep with all that success.

Often producing some very serious subject matter like veteran homelessness or the very unpredictable realities of war, it’s nice to see a band that doesn’t take themselves too seriously and offers their fans a reason to laugh, which you will, once you see the “Sham Pain” video.

Sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting for the album release on Friday, there is a reason, when stuck in Alabama watching a country artist at a little watering hole and the local singer asks for requests, we never hesitate to shout out “Five Finger Death Punch.” That country guy might laugh but no doubt, he’s heard of them.

May 18th – “And Justice For None” by Five Finger Death Punch is available for purchase. Or you may pre-order HERE.
