REVIEW BY DAVID TAYLOR AND PHOTOS BY ROBERT A CHADWICK | Go Venue Magazine
On Wednesday, October 23, Dirty Honey made their Omaha debut at The Admiral, bringing their brand of rock n’ roll with them. Though it was during the middle of the week, the crowd that was there felt like it was already the weekend.
The Band Feel from St. Louis got to perform a 45-minute set to warm the crowd up. I dug these guys. They had a vibe that read 1970s rock and sounded and looked the part. Surely, there are the Led Zeppelin and Allman Brothers comparisons, but they’re playing original music that’s good and all that matters. I believe this is their first major tour, so I was impressed how well-polished they sounded. By the time this review gets published, their self-titled EP will be out, so I would highly recommend checking that out.
Finally, we were ready for some Dirty Honey. I hadn’t seen these guys since December of 2019 in Lincoln, so I was excited to see they were finally going to play Omaha. This band is currently filling the hole that Aerosmith left in my heart regarding a hard rock band that grooves in the present day. They are all incredible players, getting to showcase their talent before the last song of the encore, “Rolling 7s”. They even covered some very unique tracks, including Rolling Stones’ “Honky Tonk Woman” and Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy”. The fans in the audience were very enthusiastic when they performed. It was another amazing set from the Dirty Honey guys. Check out their latest album, Can’t Find the Brakes.
