Monday, April 23, 2018 – Last time Windhand, a doom metal band based out of Virginia, was in Los Angeles, they played the Roxy. They were back at the The Roxy Theatre this time around. It had been too long since their last appearance here, which was just over 2 years ago. The band recently put out a split EP with Satan’s Satyrs. It features two new Windhand songs, “Old Evil,” and “Three Sisters.”  They also just got back from Seattle where they worked with producer Jack Endino on their new record.  Looking forward to their new album, which should be out in the fall. It promises to have some killer tunes on there so be on the lookout!

This time around, they were playing the Roxy on a Monday night. The place was still packed. We arrived early so we could have dinner and catch up with the band. Around 9:00 p.m., Windhand took the stage. They started their set with “Amaranth.” The crowd immediately started to head bang. They proceeded to play songs from their entire catalog including “Woodbine,” “Old Evil”, “Kingfisher,” and “Cassock.” Such a heaving set. Every single song they played sounded amazing. The biggest standouts tonight were “Kingfisher” and the heavy, pounding sounds of “Cassock.” Unfortunately, the evening had to come to an end. They ended the night with the classic “Winter Sun.”

This band always puts on a killer show. If you have not had a chance to see them, I highly recommend them. Full set list and photos below.
