“Music brings a warm glow to my vision, thawing mind and muscle from their endless wintering.” – Haruki Murakami
Outside the Waiting Room on 12/29 the temperatures were frigid. As the crowd made its way in the venue, the sound of teeth chattering could be heard. Once Omaha band, See Through Dresses (Sara Bertuldo, Mathew Carroll, Alex Kirts, Nate Van Fleet, took the stage, it was like being covered in a mountain of warm blankets. Their music is moody, but it can cross into party status without warning. The shoegaze sound reminds one of Sonic Youth or Dinosaur Jr. See Through Dresses presents to you a very well done fuzzy sound. The audience was basically lulled into a dream state and able to forget all about the cold outside. Most of the customers were simply just swaying to the music and taking it all in. This was the perfect music for the not so perfect weather. As I was walking back to my car after the show, I noticed that I still felt warm inside.
See Through Dresses released “Horse of the Other World” back in July. It’s definitely worth a purchase. If I may, I suggest nabbing the vinyl as the crackling would do nothing but add to your listening experience.
