The crowd at The Fillmore in San Francisco on any given night is something special. The history of the venue bleeds from the walls. The artists feel it, the crowd lives it, and the concert lives up to the expectation of a great show. The sold out K. Flay show on January 17th was no exception to this rule. It’s a dream for rising artists but K. Flay made a special experience even more magical with her fantastic stage presence and sound musical chops.
Lyrically K. Flay speaks to the masses through the universal language of heartache, triumph, and good old rock and roll. She is equally a hip hop rhyme-sayer and a rock goddess rolled into a ball of energy that explodes on stage. The adoring crowd of 30 and 40 somethings were coiled around her pinky much to their glee. If this was 20 years ago I would have blown out the speakers of my 1989 hatchback listening to songs like Blood in the Cut on repeat; who am I kidding I still might!
Her set packed energy, enthusiasm, and a polished performance all in just under 2 hours. Her down to earth style leads listeners to appreciate all that she pours into her music. She is well on her way to greatness and I would expect many more sold out shows at larger and larger venues, especially as the world discovers her this upcoming Grammy Season.
