Beach Slang:
The band Beach Slang play with so much enthusiasm. Their sound is fast and hard hitting, Their chemistry oozes like they have played together for years. The lead singer is very funny between songs and the band has the look and feel of a 90’s garage band that had grown up into a serious professional band. The audience loves them and cheering them on throughout their set. They are a band that will be fun to watch grow in the spotlight.
Dashboard Confessional:
The Fillmore was packed with a diehard group of Dashboard Confessional fans on a Tuesday night. Throughout the entire set list there was constant reminders of what made this band the kings of emo rock. Their songs are timeless with touches of nostalgia interspersed. Chris Carrabba sounds as good as he did back in the emo era of the mid 2000’s. His talent makes it clear why this band came back together and continues to impress. He is a very charismatic individual who had the crowd eating out of his hands while singing their hearts out with him.
This band sounded amazing whether it was during a rock song or acoustic set. They know how to ramp up their energy and volume for the faster songs; but more importantly they show great control and calculated restraint when playing an acoustic set. They are truly very talented musicians.
I’m sure that I wasn’t the only fan that didn’t want the show to end. When the crowd cheered loudly for an encore, Dashboard came back out to play one last song. It was an oldie called “Hands Down” a fan favorite and a song that holds many personal memories for me of an ex-girlfriend and road trips we would take. Hands down this was one of the most unforgettable concerts I have been to.
