KISS’s Rock and Roll All Nite In Chula Vista, CA

The KISS ‘End of The Road World Tour’ hit the North Island Credit Union Amphitheater this evening [Saturday, September 25, 2021] in Chula Vista, California. Say it isn’t so, but this will be the final KISS tour. The tour began in early 2019 and will proceed through the summer of 2022 with dates currently in the US, including a residency in Las Vegas starting in December. From there the band plans to hit dates in Australia, South America, and Europe. We were excited to be here tonight, as this was one show we had been looking forward to for quite some time.
By the time we arrived, the amphitheater was starting to get packed with KISS fanatics from all over dressed as their favorite band member. KISS consists of original members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, as well as longtime members Tommy Thayer (guitarist) and Eric Singer (drummer). Tonight they were to hit the stage at 8:45pm. The opening support act was the renowned visual artist David Garibaldi. After having raised over $600,000 on the first leg of the tour, Garibaldi returned as the opening act for KISS by painting live portraits of the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ on-stage prior to the concert. Those in attendance were given the opportunity to donate $10 to Crew Nation to enter to win Garibaldi’s painting. His artwork is amazing and was a perfect way to begin tonight’s show.
The time was finally here as the Amphitheater was full and fans were ready. The stage was covered with a huge backdrop when a deep voice came over the speakers and stated: “You Wanted the Best and You Got It! The Hottest Band in The World – KISS!!!” Suddenly the backdrop falls and the loud roar of explosives popped like loud cannons as the band was lowered from the ceiling of the stage onto to the main stage. A grand entrance for a legendary band as they began the set with “Detroit Rock City.” From there, the band went right into another classic, “Shout It Out Loud”. Chula Vista was excited to have KISS back! It was incredible to see generations of fans mesmerized and singing along with the band.
The band’s energy was consistent from start to finish, and Chula Vista could not get enough. They went on to play other fan favorites like “War Machine,” “Cold Gin,” “God of Thunder,” and “Love Gun.” They played a vast assortment of songs spanning their entire catalog. At one point, Paul Stanley attached himself to a harness and literally flew over the crowd to a small single platform stage within the audience. Paul engaged the fans and had them all singing along to “Love Gun” and “I Was Made for Lovin’ You”. What a treat for the fans as they could see Paul Stanley up close and personal before he was hoisted back to the main stage.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and tonight the show finally concluded with the classic KISS anthem, “Rock and Roll All Nite”. The place went wild for this one! Large KISS balloons were released into the air while confetti filled the skies. Explosives and fire blasts on stage added to the celebration. Truly an amazing experience to see every single person in the amphitheater singing out loud to the chorus “I want to rock roll all nite and party every day”. We hope this is not the last we see of KISS, but if it is, what a way to end it.
