KYLE MILLION | Go Venue Magazine
Jackyl, an American rock band formed in 1991, to melt faces and rock out with fans on Friday, November 1, 2024, and they did not disappoint, with Jesse James Dupree coming onstage and asking the question of why is this the first time in our area to a loud retort of applause and cheers. Corral take note, they would definitely be welcomed performing in the area anytime with a fan base as large as theirs, many of which have traveled to Sturgis every year to the bike rally and see them perform as a tradition. The show went off without a hitch, with a crowd filled with everyone from hard core rock addicts to a few mom-and-pop types reliving their youth. I found it refreshing getting back into my element shooting the first three, two in the pit then third song walking into the crowd for some full show shots, and met some new and old friends alike taking in the vibe of the crowd. With their self-titled debut album has sold more than a million copies in the United States with hit singles like “Down on Me” and “When Will It Rain”, this adult rock band has songs definitely meant for the mature audiences with songs like “she loves my cock”, it’s no wonder they sold out the venue giving music lovers a great indoor show. The band originally came to my attention after 9/11 when they performed their new hit “Open Invitation”, which received wide airplay and featured lyrics that included, “I hate you bin Laden” and “You’ve got an open invitation to kiss our ass”, and I have seen them perform all over the country when covering festivals like Rockfest, etc.
So be sure to check out their music on your favorite platform like YouTube and Spotify and get to a show as soon as you can, especially the outdoor ones which involve the chainsaw and the big mascot! Hoping to see them and many other great performances at our little corner of the state for sure!
