Omaha, Nebraska was the place to be on Wednesday, August 21st for rock music fans. Five Finger Death Punch was set to headline the CHI Health Center with support from Marilyn MansonSlaughter to Prevail, and The Funeral Portrait. Fans converged from across the Midwest for a night of high-octane performances and memorable moments.

The night kicked off on a high note with the rapidly up-and-coming band The Funeral Portrait. Ready to make their mark on their first arena tour, the Atlanta-based band was raring to go. Known for their modern emo sound, they began their set with their newest song, “Blood Mother”. The band demonstrated their ability to blend melody with intensity and passionate vocals. Lead singer Lee Jennings commanded attention with his engaging stage presence and strong vocal delivery. Jennings made sure he was available after the set to meet with fans at the merch table. This band is going places thanks to the hard work they’ve put in over the years, and it’s well-earned.

As the crowd gathered and anticipation built, Slaughter to Prevail’s members took the stage, leaving a spot at the helm for lead vocalist Alex Terrible. As he made his way to center stage, the band exploded into their set. They opened with their song Bonebreaker, and their set was marked by relentless energy. The band delivered heavy riffs and guttural vocals with an intensity that reverberated through the arena. The crowd was instantly drawn into the brutal, high-energy atmosphere that Slaughter to Prevail created. Fans loved the band’s cover of Rammstein’s Du Hast, chanting the words along with them.

As the stage was set for Marilyn Manson, anticipation was palpable. The rock icon, known for his provocative performances and theatrical flair, lived up to his reputation. Manson’s entrance was a spectacle of dark glamour, with eerie lighting and dramatic effects enhancing his larger-than-life persona. Manson’s set was a journey through his extensive catalog, blending classics like “The Beautiful People” with tracks from his more recent works. His performance was both mesmerizing and unsettling, a hallmark of his style that keeps audiences captivated. The concert was not without its moments of controversy, as recent accusations against Manson were alluded to by Five Finger Death Punch’s Ivan Moody later in the night. He addressed the elephant in the room by stating that he is thankful that “we live in a country where people are innocent until proven guilty”. Theatrics aside, Manson’s vocal delivery and stagecraft were impressive, proving why he remains a polarizing but influential figure in rock.

Next up was the night’s headliner. Known for their strong and interactive stage presence, the band didn’t disappoint. From the moment they launched into their set with their song “Welcome to the Circus”, frontman Ivan Moody was commanding the stage with his trademark intensity and the crowd was eating it up. He changed into various accessories and traded out props throughout the night, tossing them to members of the crowd when he was finished. The band’s performance was a visual and auditory assault, with so many lasers, and a relentless rhythm that kept the audience on their feet. The crowd responded by signing and waving back to Moody, who frequently pointed out and waved to members of the crowd throughout the night, always keeping them engaged. Towards the end of the night, the sound cut out as the band started their song “Under and Over It”. After a few minutes, they were back in business, making a smooth recovery and starting it again from the top. The band sounded impressive, and never missed a beat.

Last night’s concert in Omaha was a celebration of metal’s diverse and dynamic nature. All the bands on Wednesday’s bill offered contrasting but complementary experiences, showcasing the range and depth of the genre. Whether through the pounding rhythms and anthems of Five Finger Death Punch, the dark, theatrical experience of Marilyn Manson, the guttural intensity of Slaughter to Prevail, or the emotional and powerful sound of The Funeral Portrait the audience was treated to a night that will be remembered for its raw energy and theatrical flair.
