Even the rain on June 20th couldn’t keep the crowd away, or dampen anybody’s rock and roll spirit as Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln Nebraska hosted an incredible night of classic rock!
Opening the show was Brother Cane, and they absolutely brought it. Their set was awesome, the lighting looked great, and the crowd was clearly into every minute of it. The band members were full of energy and they had such great rock-and-roll vibes onstage. They really were full of fun and excitement. A great way to start to the night. I definitely appreciate all the hard work they put into their performance. After their set, I got to meet Damon Johnson from Brother Cane. He came to the merch table, and I was lucky enough to chat with him and get a signed copy of their new album, Magnolia Medicine. I’m so grateful for that moment. Thank you, Damon, you were awesome
Up next was Co-Headliner, Kansas. Fifty years and they were still absolutely brilliant. The lighting and sound were fantastic, and the crowd went wild for them. They brought so much movement to the stage, and the backdrop artwork was stunning. Let me just say this, the lead singer’s vocals were chef’s kiss. This band still has an incredible amount of talent. The song “Paradox” really showcased the bands skill as each member had a turn at a solo. Hearing their songs live was honestly breathtaking. Shout out to the crowd who belted out “Carry On Wayward Son” so loudly, they nearly drowned out the band.
Closing out the night was the other Co-Headliner, 38 Special, and what a performance they gave. It was really something amazing to witness. After all these years, 52 and counting, the band is still incredibly talented, and the crowd especially went crazy for them. One of the coolest moments of the night for me was getting guitarist Jerry Riggs’ guitar pick during the show, that’s definitely something I’ll be holding onto forever. The crowd all night long was amazing too. Everyone was friendly, cool, and just there to have a great time, which made the whole experience even better. 38 Special released their latest studio album, Milestone in September of 2025. It was their first record in two decades. A 9-track album that keeps the iconic Southern rock band’s sound alive. It features collaborations with Pat Monahan (Train) and Randy Bachman. It’s a must buy.
Happy 50th anniversary to Kansas and 38 Special, what an accomplishment! You guys have been rocking for 50 years, and who knows… maybe 50 more? Also, special thanks to the backstage worker who gave me a guitar pick, thank you so much!
Overall, this was such a fun and memorable show, filled with great music, great energy, and some really special moments I won’t forget anytime soon. Hope everyone else who was there loved it as much as I did!
